This property is in a wonderful location, being the highest house in the village, and sits just below an 11th Century Genoese castle. Panos House has commanding views out over the top of the Volissos and surrounding countryside to the sea.

This singer’s greatest success was the song “Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu“, also known as “Volare“.  Co-authored by Modugno and Franco Migliacci, the song won the contest and became an enormous success worldwide, including the United States. It received two Grammy Awards with sales above 22 million copies, and represented Italy in the 1958 Eurovision Song Contest, where it came in third. Dean Martin and various other artists sang it and I remember it as a child !

Anyway he was born in Polignano a Mare in Puglia where I was viewing villas in March of this year, Whilst having lunch there I spotted this amazing statue, remembered the song and couldn’t resist joining Domenico for a sing-song !
